Sulaelexpwrience, Maros – A man from Makassar initials Illang alias Illang (28) had to deal with the police after being determined to steal a cashier’s cellphone in a minimarket in the Maros Baru District, Maros Regency.
The perpetrators were successfully arrested by the Jatanras Sat Reskrim Maros Police Station in only 2 times 24 hours after the incident, after the police received a report from the victim and conducted a series of investigations.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Maros Iptu Muh.ridwan, S.H., M.H explained that the theft took place when the perpetrator pretended to be a buyer. When the cashier was off guard, the perpetrators immediately took two cellphones and some cash placed on the cashier’s table and fled.
“The perpetrators were captured by the Supervisory Camera (CCTV) owned by the minimarket. From the recording, our team immediately identified and pursued,” said Iptu Muh Ridwan, Monday (7/21/2025).
“The perpetrators were almost arrested shortly after the report was received, the perpetrators had escaped to escape when they were about to be arrested at his home,” he said.
Then the perpetrators were finally successfully secured in Makassar City without resistance. When arrested, the perpetrators still kept the victim’s cellphone that had not yet been sold.
From the results of the interim examination, the perpetrators are recidivists of theft cases. The perpetrators have carried out the action three times in Makassar City.
Now, the perpetrators were secured at the Maros Police Headquarters and were charged under Article 362 of the Criminal Code regarding theft, with the threat of a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
